Immersion Education in history classes. How and why acquire a second language through immersion?

2017
Vandebosch, Michiel
Professionele bachelor in het onderwijs: secundair onderwijs

Abstract :

The bachelor thesis covers the current state of affairs regarding immersion education and the European CLIL-project. This specifically means that CLIL (short for 'Content and Language Integrated Learning) was compared with other programmes and curricula in different parts of the world. In order to critically analyse immersion education, I did some literature research, which covered the origins, the advantages and the disadvantages of immersion.

Last but not least, a series of creative materials were developed as a source of inspiration for future immersion teachers.
