De draagbare dood

2014
Lambeets, Machteld
Master of Arts in de beeldende kunsten

Abstract :

‘Wearable Death’ is an artistic study of the attitude of man towards death. It states that a consciousness of impermanence can guide man in life. Death makes life all the more valuable as likewise, life makes death more precious. The jewellery, as a result of this study, attempts to touch the foundation of humankind as an impermanent being. Through fragility and contradictions in the objects, a tension between melancholia and hope arises. It is a sphere that encourages us to think about our impermanence and to cherish the precious life that is given to us.
